Creative Research: Main Antagonist Anatomy Research

When I designed the main antagonist for the character roster,I wanted the character to be someone who is hiding not only their intention but their true form as well. This is why the figure is wearing a long flowing robe. I decided that this character was meant to be some sort of fallen angel who used to be something of great beauty but now has lost her beauty as a result of her crimes. Since she is not inspire by a constellation she is more affiliated with a creature of mythology.

True Form Moodboard

To convey true chaos in her design, I decided that I should make her true form appear very chaotic. I looked at mythological creatures such as the Manticore and Chimera.
I decided that the character should share features of a manticore as the main character, John was based of Orion the Hunter, a manticore has the tail of a scorpion. According to legend, Orion the hunter was killed by Scorpio. However I have not decided if that should be John's fate but I'm wanting to keep a hold of the idea in future.

Horn Moodboard

I looked at a range of horns for different animals from fictional and non fictional sources. I like the curved horn concept as this connects with the Imperial shape motif.

Here is an earlier version I made of the character's true form.

Here are two versions of how the scorpion tail could look. I chose the left iteration because the tail showed a line of action compared to the right iteration. I decided that I wanted horns that suggested more formality than chaotic annotations.
