Laura is the female member of Team Northstar . Her main role is support as she keeps maintaining the mercenary power suits. She is based on Gaia, who is a figure still connected to Greek mythology, just like the other constellations.
Laura Character Influences.
Based on Laura's intended role in the team, I decided to look at characters that had similar roles. I saw Laura as the main support character who provides Intel, maintenance and helps keeps the team working efficiently and as a united team. I had some ideas that she would be a mix between a technical officer or a scientist but as I progressed I felt that she would be more fitting as an engineer who provides support and helps maintain the power suits on and off the battlefield. However as she is the only female character in the team, it would be unfair for her to not have a power suit of her own. Just like Cassandra, it was decided that she'll get her own suit. However it would be up to her when she would be needed on the battlefield. The thing with the communication officers is that from what I've seen in anime, games and comics, they do not move about. I felt that this character should be able to move around with the team rather than watching from the railings.
A good example of this is a character from Power Rangers: Ninja Storm (2003) where he started out as an assistant but ended up becoming a key Power Ranger. to me this is the approach I was wanting to take with the character.
In regards to personality, Laura can be eccentric despite being a character would be considered to be "by the book". While she is very smart, energetic and friendly, she can get really upset and even aggressive when she sees something that she worked on for a long period of time become meaningless. She enjoys the company of the mercenaries and she shows concern for John's well being.

Fists Moodboard
I made some changes to Laura's power suit as the original one did not show any emphasizes on the fists. Dave's' specialization is with swords, Zaff,s with the power oft he mind, It be fitting for her specialization to be using her hands to great effect. The large fists show that not only can she can cause major damage while providing maintenance.The large fists also help the silhouettes.
Laura Final Colours
The use of green was to connect with stability, her loyalty to John and her compassionate nature. The blue was used to connect with her faction. The orange was to reflect her enthusiastic, independent and optimistic outlook.
